T-Gas Ltd: Categorisation of Entry levels into the Gas IndustryCategory 1Engineers that hold current ACS Gas Engineering or ACOP's (requirement before ACS) qualifications, or have been current, are entitled to renew their certificates, then add on any additional elements - e.g. Central Heating Boilers (up to 70kw net) and Water Heating Appliances (CEN/WAT), Cookers (CKR1) etc. CLICK HERE to see appliance categories available. Category 2: Guild of Gas Fitting OperativesEngineers who do not hold any formal gas qualification, but are employed within the plumbing/heating and ventilation industries fall into this category. The applicant is requested to complete 2 weeks formal training in gas safety within the Centre, and then to complete a portfolio of gas work, carried out with a registered installer, for a minimum of 6 weeks. On completion of the portfolio, to the satisfaction of the Centre, the applicant can continue to ACS CCN1 (Basic Gas Safety), adding appliances with the relevant training required. The cost of assessment is included in the price. Category 3Also under the auspices of the GGFO, this category is available to individuals who have no plumbing or gas qualifications. The category is designed for those who require a change in career. The course requires a period of 3 weeks formal training in gas safety within the Centre, and then to complete a portfolio of gas work carried out with a registered gas engineer for a minimum period of 10 weeks. On completion of the portfolio to the satisfaction of the Centre, the applicant will be put forward for 'The Guild of Gas Fitting Operatives'. The GGFO is a gas qualification recognised by UKAS to allow access to ACS gas qualifications.
